Plate Art.

Gypsy Purple Home

I have been meaning to decorate a wall in my house with plates like this for awhile now. Growing up, I remember my mom hanging plates on the wall, and at the time I thought it looked very ‘country’, but hanging them in unexpected clusters like this makes it feel whimsical and modern. It’s also a cheap way of filling your walls with interesting ‘art’, especially if you collect your plates from thrift stores and flea markets. What do you think? Are you a fan of plates as wall art, or is it too ‘old fashioned’ for you?

I love plate art especially the last one! My friend used something similar to these http://www.hang4less.com/ to hang her collection. They are invisible and don’t put any stress on the plates like the wire ones.

Hey Rachel, I have tried those sticky things (maybe not the exact same brand though) and I got scared because the stickiness seemed to be weakening… But I have had plates fall and break from the wire hangers. Maybe I’ll give the sticky ones another try 🙂

Ladies …you know I love plates in a room…kitchens mostly!…My collection is not clustered as it should be but that is in the works!…I only use damaged plates (who cares if they are chippy!)..and I only use wire hangers…I know they are terrible for “in good condition” plates & saucers…but I have had some hung for over 20 years….
Love these images Kevi..Thanks for sharing!
