Autumn Inspiration.

Happy Monday all! Here’s some Autumn inspiration for you on this last day of October. Can you believe it? Next thing we know, it will be Christmas! Not that I am complaining… I have a very special little person I can’t wait to meet around that time.

Beauty in Simplicity.

Today I am finding beauty in the simplicity of these relatively unadorned rooms. I don’t know what it is about stripping away all the ‘stuff’ that leaves more space for peace to abide. I think it must be the lack of distractions and stimulation that I find really refreshing in a time where there is no shortage of those things all around us – vying for our attention (I am talking about you, Pinterest). But really, I like all the inspiration as much as the next person, but do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by it all? I do. I often have so many ideas floating through my head so quickly that I don’t have time to process any of them before the next one comes flying at me.

Sorry to get all philosophical on you there. I just think that these spare interiors allow space for the mind to rest and be creative on it’s own, if that makes sense. I also think they prove that you don’t always have to have the latest and greatest new couch or chair to beautify your space. I am constantly learning to see beauty in the simple things.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have gorgeous wood floors and a massive amount of natural light. I hope you all have a wonderful last weekend of October!

Happy Autumn.

What a beautiful Fall day here in the good ol’ Fraser Valley! I hope you were able to get out and enjoy it for at least a little bit. I had such a busy but enjoyable day… I am only now able to sit down and do a brief blog post. I went to preregister and take a tour at the maternity ward in the hospital this morning and it just made this pregnancy seem all the more real. Like, this is really happening… I can’t believe we are getting down to the home stretch here! I couldn’t be more excited to meet our little lady in just about 2 months!

Baby Room Inspiration.

Good morning! By now you probably know that I am expecting our first baby at the end of this year and also that the baby room will be our walk-in closet. While maybe not ideal, I am sort of excited by the challenge of living with less, (I have been purging like a madwoman), and making even a tiny closet feel special. I thought I would give you a little peek into what has been inspiring me for the eventual baby’s room. Also, judging by what I’ve put out here, you’ll probably guess the gender of our little one.

Since the room is so small and there are no windows, I wanted to go with lots of white with some soft, happy colours brought in through art and accessories. I also love the idea of bringing in some natural elements such as using branches in the mobile. I will definitely be trying my hand at a few little DIY projects in the near future. Also, something you probably don’t see much of here, are vintage touches – but not to worry – there will be plenty in the actual room!

Colourful Ecclectic.

I am loving the colourful, ecclectic home of designer Amber Lewis. I feel cheerful just looking at it. How about you? Could you live with this much colour? I like how there is a healthy dose of white in all the rooms to keep things looking fresh and modern. I am also such a fan of all the ethnic touches – especially those rugs!
