Happy Summer!

Hello! Today is officially the first day of summer. And what a day at that! Finally. I knew we had some blue sky hiding behind all those clouds. I am easily distracted. By shiny things… and especially by the sunshine. So today’s post is not really design-related, it is more about what’s on my mind. Can you guess what that might be?

All this talk of sunshine and summer has me thinking about holidays, road-trips and camping. There is probably nothing I enjoy more than being out in God’s beautiful creation… slowing down (i.e. no phones, laptops or t.v. allowed) and appreciating the simple things in life. Why don’t we do it more often? I can’t help but be inspired by these beautiful pictures of people doing just that. Enjoy.

What about you? Do you have any relaxing summer holidays planned? Dustin and I are flying to New Hampshire for a wedding at the end of July and I am excited to see that part of the United States. But other than that, we plan to use our weekends to squeeze as much camping in as possible, as well as get that canoe in the water once or twice.

D+K=LOVE (Pt. 3)

Hello friends! I hope you are all having a lovely day so far. I am having a cozy day cleaning my house (we have a showing later on), blogging, and doing some fun crafts! I thought I would share with you the third and final post about my wedding!

Following our outdoor ceremony, we had some relaxed social time outside with appetizers, beer, bocce ball, and a photo booth. Since we did the majority of our photos before the ceremony, Dustin and I were able to enjoy this time and visit with our guests. Such a good decision! We eventually made our way into the barn where a BBQ dinner of burgers was served!

Thank you so much for letting me share one of the most important days of my life with you! It has been so much fun reliving all the emotions as I have sorted through the many pictures. After all the small and big details I stressed over to make our wedding beautiful, the one thing that stands out far more than anything else is, there sure was a lot of love on that day.

As before, all photo credit here goes to the talented Bethany Schiedel.

Here are some photos from the ceremony of our wedding. Dustin and I got married outside on a VERY hot day last July… Although, you can’t really complain about the weather being ‘too hot’ on your wedding day when you live in B.C.

We bought the cream umbrellas at the dollar store as a last minute precaution against the sun and they ended up being a lifesaver (as well as looking pretty cute!). Guests sat on hay bales covered with antique linens and quilts and vintage wooden chairs. We had vintage hankies available for guests to use for their ‘tears of joy’, although, they might have been used more for wiping the sweat from their brows! We wanted a very simple, laid-back vibe, so we opted to not print service orders and instead write the order of the ceremony on an old window turned blackboard.

I have one last wedding-related post for you (if you can handle it) – the reception! I think it’s the best one yet! Lots of fun details.

As with my previous wedding post, all photos here were taken by our AMAZING photographer, Bethany Schiedel.

Since getting married last July, I have had a lot of people contacting me with questions regarding their own weddings, or weddings of friends… whether they want to purchase items I used, get married at the same location, or just need some general advice. Sometimes I wonder if I went into the wrong business! In any case, I thought I would post about my wedding since there seems to be a lot of interest there… If you are totally not into the wedding thing, forgive the next few posts.

I thought I would start with some wedding party photos. Dustin and I chose to do a ‘first look’ and photos before the actual ceremony so that we were able to just relax and enjoy the rest of the day with our guests. I think it was one of the best decisions we made in regards to our wedding day!

All photos were taken by the lovely Bethany Schiedel. I highly recommend her if you are planning a wedding and looking for a photographer. Here are some of the details from these photos…

My Dress and Dustin’s Suit: J.Crew

Bridesmaids Dresses: Liz Claiborne

Groomsmen Outfits: vests and pants – Le Chateau, ties – H&M

Thanks for reading this long post… If you can handle more wedding, I’ll post about the ceremony and reception next week!
