I’m Still Alive.

Hello again! Wow, it’s been so long! I’m sorry I just dropped off the face of the earth for a couple of weeks there – and without any warning! I have been pretty busy as I slowly start to work again. Man, whoever said balancing work with kids was hard was not kidding around! And I only have one! Definitely a learning curve… one that I am sure I will never fully master.

So, I originally took some time off from blogging because I just got too busy to keep up. But then I was really enjoying spending loads of time with Wren and Dustin without the pressure to be online all the time – or at all. I want blogging to be a fun and creative outlet for me (and it has been!) but I was feeling a bit guilty (when I wasn’t posting regularly, and then when I was, and wasn’t spending as much time with those two people up there). So a bit of a bloggy break was in order!

I thought I would include a couple of pictures so you would believe that I am still alive – as well as to see first hand how I was lured away from my computer so easily. I mean, look at those cheeks! I didn’t even stand a chance.

On that note, I have been a mother for almost 4 wonderful months now! And every day gets better and better. I continue to learn new things about this beautiful creature who is my daughter. Like how she is strong and independent. She has a mind of her own already (and she isn’t afraid to speak it!)… Can a 4 month old have a temper?! Cause I think this one does :). She is curious and likes to learn and discover new things all the time (a little too fast for this mama). She has been holding her head up unassisted from the moment she was born and is now rolling over. It’s hard to believe sitting up and crawling are right around the corner. I’m sure this won’t be the first time I want time to slow down, but as much as I want her to stay this way forever, I am so eager to discover the person she is and becomes as she grows.

I am feeling ready to start blogging again starting Monday, although I may take a day off here and there and you may see a few more personal posts in the future. My life is so changed and consumed with motherhood and all that entails, that this blog will inevitably change as well. Different, but hopefully better and more honest. Thanks to all who still read and follow me after my absence.

Around Here.

Hello! I hope you all had a lovely Easter long weekend. It has been pretty busy around here lately; we just put our house up for sale (again) and I am crossing my fingers it sells quickly! Mostly because I can’t fathom keeping my house clean for endless showings! Even though a baby doesn’t take up much space and we have been pretty good about not acquiring too many baby toys and accessories, it still feels as though we are quickly out growing our home. I think a big part of feeling that way is because I was home a lot more due to having a newborn in the winter. Some days it feels like the walls are closing in. So all I can say to that is, bring it on summer! I am so thankful for this warmer weather we have been having the last few days.

Another reason I have been scarce around here lately is because my baby girl suddenly went from sleeping 8-10 hour stretches at night (we even got a few 11 hour nights!), to 3-4hours at a time. I know I shouldn’t be complaining since she has been a champion sleeper since the day she was born, but if this is the new norm (please, God, no…), then it it going to take some getting used to.

Family Photos.

As I mentioned, we had some photos taken last weekend of our little family of three by Jayme Anne Photography. I thought I would share some with you because I think they turned out so lovely. I have to apologize for posting so many, but I just couldn’t narrow it down any more! Jayme did such a rad job. I especially love how the photos are really natural looking – she doesn’t make you do any contrived poses. And although Wren didn’t give us any smiles (the little stinker), I think these capture her laid-back personality. She was such a good girl, just taking it all in.

Man, I can’t believe that 3 months ago we hadn’t even met her and now she is such a huge part of our lives. I can’t imagine life without her; she brings so much joy to our home. We are so incredibly thankful for the gift that she is to us. We don’t deserve her, but we sure do love her.

If you like these photos, you should check out the rest of Jayme’s work here!

Today my mom is babysitting this little doll so her mama can go thrift store shopping! And I couldn’t be more excited! Hopefully I will come home with some treasures. Wish me luck! I hope you all have a great Wednesday as well.

Happy Monday.

A little someone just wanted to stop in and say hello. Wren is 7 weeks old today and I have to say that being a mother (more specifically, her mother) just gets better every day. She is getting to be so much fun! We can now make her smile and she is starting to be interested in her toys. I never knew my heart could feel this way. I hope your week is off to a great start!

Also, you have her to thank for me not having a few lovely things post ready for this morning… that will have to wait until tomorrow.
