A Montauk Surf Shack

Tepees on the lawn, vintage lawn chairs and lanterns hanging in the trees?! I am loving the campy feel of this Montauk surf shack.

Happy Friday (+ Pools!)

Happy Friday everyone! This week flew by but I am yet again very thankful for the weekend. And it looks like the sun might even stick around until tomorrow! Wow, three days in a row is unheard of this year, but I will gladly take it!

Our townhouse complex has a shared pool (nothing fancy, but it does the trick), and yesterday I got to spend 2 glorious hours swimming and lounging in it. Only the 2nd time this summer; but I may try for a 3rd time tomorrow. All this pool time has got me dreaming that instead of a rectangular hole in the concrete, it looked a little more something like these pools… oh, and maybe that it was just mine. A girl can dream, can’t she?

The Back Shed.

Design Ties

I am dreaming about one day having a home with a yard big enough to have a decent sized shed… Not a storage shed. Not a garden shed. But an antiques shed! One where I could set it up cute as can be and sell all my vintage lovelies. And looking at some of these sheds for inspiration is making me one impatient girl.

Happy Summer!

Hello! Today is officially the first day of summer. And what a day at that! Finally. I knew we had some blue sky hiding behind all those clouds. I am easily distracted. By shiny things… and especially by the sunshine. So today’s post is not really design-related, it is more about what’s on my mind. Can you guess what that might be?

All this talk of sunshine and summer has me thinking about holidays, road-trips and camping. There is probably nothing I enjoy more than being out in God’s beautiful creation… slowing down (i.e. no phones, laptops or t.v. allowed) and appreciating the simple things in life. Why don’t we do it more often? I can’t help but be inspired by these beautiful pictures of people doing just that. Enjoy.

Bourbon and Pearls

What about you? Do you have any relaxing summer holidays planned? Dustin and I are flying to New Hampshire for a wedding at the end of July and I am excited to see that part of the United States. But other than that, we plan to use our weekends to squeeze as much camping in as possible, as well as get that canoe in the water once or twice.

I don’t know about you, but I have been longing for the days of warm sunshine that lasts for (what seems like) forever. I have faith that those days are just around the corner, even though looking outside today doesn’t feel like it. I can’t wait to do a lot more of my living outside. I live in a townhouse unit, which gives us a small patch of grass to call our own. I dream of having a large yard with maybe a covered deck or porch one day. Until that happens, I will vicariously live through these inspiring photos, and then maybe I’ll set up my little space as cute as can be and sit back with a glass of cold lemonade.
