Happy Weekend!

Well, it’s Friday once again. The weather has finally been sunny for more than a day at a time in our little corner of the world and I am so thankful. It’s been nice getting out of the house for walks every day with my girl. We had yet another showing this morning (I’m beginning to sound like a broken record), and instead of finding somewhere to go, we just had a little picnic in the beautiful, grassy, park-like grounds of our complex. Since my house is now spotless, I am thinking some thrifting is in order for this afternoon!

Have a great weekend!

I’m Still Alive.

Hello again! Wow, it’s been so long! I’m sorry I just dropped off the face of the earth for a couple of weeks there – and without any warning! I have been pretty busy as I slowly start to work again. Man, whoever said balancing work with kids was hard was not kidding around! And I only have one! Definitely a learning curve… one that I am sure I will never fully master.

So, I originally took some time off from blogging because I just got too busy to keep up. But then I was really enjoying spending loads of time with Wren and Dustin without the pressure to be online all the time – or at all. I want blogging to be a fun and creative outlet for me (and it has been!) but I was feeling a bit guilty (when I wasn’t posting regularly, and then when I was, and wasn’t spending as much time with those two people up there). So a bit of a bloggy break was in order!

I thought I would include a couple of pictures so you would believe that I am still alive – as well as to see first hand how I was lured away from my computer so easily. I mean, look at those cheeks! I didn’t even stand a chance.

On that note, I have been a mother for almost 4 wonderful months now! And every day gets better and better. I continue to learn new things about this beautiful creature who is my daughter. Like how she is strong and independent. She has a mind of her own already (and she isn’t afraid to speak it!)… Can a 4 month old have a temper?! Cause I think this one does :). She is curious and likes to learn and discover new things all the time (a little too fast for this mama). She has been holding her head up unassisted from the moment she was born and is now rolling over. It’s hard to believe sitting up and crawling are right around the corner. I’m sure this won’t be the first time I want time to slow down, but as much as I want her to stay this way forever, I am so eager to discover the person she is and becomes as she grows.

I am feeling ready to start blogging again starting Monday, although I may take a day off here and there and you may see a few more personal posts in the future. My life is so changed and consumed with motherhood and all that entails, that this blog will inevitably change as well. Different, but hopefully better and more honest. Thanks to all who still read and follow me after my absence.

Family Photos.

As I mentioned, we had some photos taken last weekend of our little family of three by Jayme Anne Photography. I thought I would share some with you because I think they turned out so lovely. I have to apologize for posting so many, but I just couldn’t narrow it down any more! Jayme did such a rad job. I especially love how the photos are really natural looking – she doesn’t make you do any contrived poses. And although Wren didn’t give us any smiles (the little stinker), I think these capture her laid-back personality. She was such a good girl, just taking it all in.

Man, I can’t believe that 3 months ago we hadn’t even met her and now she is such a huge part of our lives. I can’t imagine life without her; she brings so much joy to our home. We are so incredibly thankful for the gift that she is to us. We don’t deserve her, but we sure do love her.

If you like these photos, you should check out the rest of Jayme’s work here!

Happy Monday.

A little someone just wanted to stop in and say hello. Wren is 7 weeks old today and I have to say that being a mother (more specifically, her mother) just gets better every day. She is getting to be so much fun! We can now make her smile and she is starting to be interested in her toys. I never knew my heart could feel this way. I hope your week is off to a great start!

Also, you have her to thank for me not having a few lovely things post ready for this morning… that will have to wait until tomorrow.

I’ve been doing a lot of staring at this. It’s a hard life, but someone’s gotta do it. But really, I can’t believe it has been over a week since my last post on here! Sorry for leaving you hanging. So far motherhood has been absolute bliss. I am feeling really great, thanks in large part I’m sure, to the consistent 7-8 hour sleeps my girl is giving us. Knowing this could change any day, I am trying not to take it for granted. My biggest complaint right now is this snow. As much as I do love it, cabin fever was already beginning to set in before we got any… by now I am really going stir crazy. I am dying to go thrifting! Here’s hoping I don’t have much longer to wait. What have you been filling these recent snowy days with?

I will try to start more regular posts again next week. I do miss blogging, but sometimes it is hard to focus my mind on design related things when I have this little munchkin in front of me. So please forgive me if I get ‘off-topic’ from time to time!
